Part of Keolis Transit America’s vision and core values is to take an active role of responsibility. Specifically, Keolis is, “involved in the communities we serve and enhance the neighborhoods in which we live.” Recently the Keolis exemplified this role by volunteering their time, vehicles and drivers to transport women from several Los Angeles shelters for holiday festivities.
Keolis Transit America is honored to be the recipient of an award for supporting the Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Division in their yearly Thanksgiving Dinner for a local battered women’s shelter. Jorge Flores, general manager for the Van Nuys Terminal received the award on behalf of Keolis. Drivers transported women and their children from the shelter to a Thanksgiving community function at an undisclosed location for their safety.
Part of Keolis’ fleet will also serve as a “sleigh of hope” for an early Christmas toy drive. They will take the women to various community functions where they can wrap toys for their children.
According to the National Battered Women’s Organization, “One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.” Keolis Transit America is proud to be a part in making the holiday season happier for these families.
