HART will join public transportation agencies across the country in the 9th Annual National Dump the Pump Day on June 19 by offering a free 1-Day Pass incentive to Tampa area riders.

Customers can claim a free 1-Day Unlimited Pass, for use that day, in exchange for a gas receipt dated from May 1 or later.

All the customer has to do is provide the Operator a gas receipt when boarding the vehicle. The offer is valid on all of HART Local, Express, Limited Express, MetroRapid, In-Town Trolley, and HARTFlex routes.

The annual Dump the Pump Day is organized as a way to educate Americans about the multiple benefits of using public transit instead of driving themselves. The slogan of this year's National Dump the Pump Day is "Dump the Pump. Save Money. Ride Transit."

By leaving the driving to HART it is possible to eliminate costly gasoline purchases, reduce the nation's dependence on foreign oil, and dramatically shrink one's carbon footprint. Public transit also relieves the hassles and expenses of finding and paying for parking, dealing with auto maintenance and repairs, and negotiating traffic.

Dump the Pump Day is a way to motivate and inspire more people to try HART while "going green" and improving their health and overall quality of life. Members of the HART Board of Directors have also been invited to show their support for the occasion by leaving their vehicles at home and take HART to work.

The entire HART staff is fully committed to innovations and improvements that support the environment, stimulate the local and national economy, and help create flexible and adaptable transportation solutions for its valued customers.
