Regional transit agencies, including one serving the Attleboro area, are seeking a 10 percent increase in state funding, saying service is at stake.

Greater Attleboro-Taunton Regional Transit Authority, or GATRA, is among those seeking an increase in statewide funding from $80 million to $88 million.

Frank Gay, administrator of GATRA, said his agency is considering imposing a 25-cent fare hike and bus line consolidations if the funding is not forthcoming. Consolidation means two routes could be combined, with fewer stops and longer rides, he said.
