The head of Roanoke’s bus system has been placed on paid administrative leave, a city official said.

The head of Roanoke’s bus system has been placed on paid administrative leave, a city official said.

Carl Palmer, the nearly nine-year general manager of Valley Metro, went on leave shortly before Christmas, said Sherman Stovall, assistant city manager. Stovall declined to comment on the reason.

Kevin Price, assistant general manager, is functioning as the transit chief during Palmer’s absence, Stovall said.
