The Worcester Regional Transit Authority Advisory Board voted unanimously Thursday to select Jonathan E. Church as its next administrator, stressing Church’s 9-year experience working with the transit authority to rebuild itself over the past decade from near failure.
Church is a transportation project manager at the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission. In his application and interview Thursday, Church stressed his collaborations with the WRTA, noting that he successfully wrote the federal grant for the new maintenance and operations building on Quinsigamond Avenue, conducted many public meetings for the transit authority, and understood and had experienced the transit authority’s history with budget and service cuts, fare proposals and more.
