The Milwaukee County Transportation Department will begin designing and estimating cost of a bus rapid transit service between the region's two largest job centers, downtown Milwaukee and the Regional Medical Center in Wauwatosa, County Executive Chris Abele said Tuesday.
Rapid transit buses, unlike freeway flyers or express routes, would travel on a separate, dedicated right of way on streets and be competitive with vehicle drive times on freeways, Abele said in announcing the plan.
