City of Montréal, STM to commission four new reserved bus lanes

April 27, 2023
The city’s Executive Committee adopted the four new bus lanes, which are part of the city and STM’s regular program of bus priority measures, at its April 26 meeting.

The city of Montréal and the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) have adopted the commissioning of new reserved bus lanes in 2023 as part of its regular program of bus priority measures at the city’s Executive Committee.

Four new reserved lanes will be introduced: Chemin de la Côte-Saint-Luc (Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce), two sections on Saint-Laurent Boulevard (Ahuntsic-Cartierville and Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension), Provost Street (Lachine) and Sherbrooke Street West (Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce).

“Following the adoption of our annual program of bus priority measures in 2023, I am pleased four new reserved lanes have been confirmed on Saint-Laurent, Provost, Côte-Saint-Luc and Sherbrooke Street West, respectively, in Notre-Dame-Grâce,” says Éric Alan Caldwell, chair of the STM Board of Directors. “I would like to remind everyone these initiatives serve to improve the performance of our bus network by providing it with dedicated infrastructures and an enhanced customer experience. Adding reserved lanes on these streets for buses and certain other modes of transportation, such as bicycles and taxis, will contribute to smoother traffic and more punctual buses.”
