WA: Kitsap Transit Secures Boat to Replace Rich Passage 1 During Overhaul

King County has agreed to lend Kitsap Transit its backup boat, the Spirit of Kingston, to operate fast ferry service between Seattle and Bremerton while the Rich Passage 1 undergoes repairs next week.

BREMERTON — King County has agreed to lend Kitsap Transit its backup boat, the Spirit of Kingston, to operate fast ferry service between Seattle and Bremerton while the Rich Passage 1 undergoes repairs next week.

The Spirit will replace the RP1 for two weeks beginning March 19, according to a statement from Kitsap Transit. The two agencies finalized the agreement Monday. 

Kitsap Transit doesn't have a backup for its fast ferry service to Seattle yet, which meant it was at risk of having to cancel service while the RP1 was being fixed.
