The amendment allows Rapid Southlake to advance to the 30 percent design phase and to have a direct connection to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

MARTA has partnered with INIT for AFC 2.0, a cloud-based smart ticketing system featuring contactless payments across bus, train, and streetcars. The new “tap and go” service would allow users to pay fares directly with debit cards, credit cards, or mobile wallets, bypassing vending machines for a faster, more intuitive process.

The available funding builds on the $16.4 billion for 25 projects of national significance along the corridor that was awarded in 2023.
The agency is also working with NYPA to build critical infrastructure to power a zero-emissions bus fleet, which the MTA hopes to fully transition to a zero-emissions fleet by 2040.
