The 8.5-mile segment will add four new stations, with trains running approximately every eight minutes.
Wohlsen Construction Company will help to build-out and construct Amtrak's Unified Operations Center Facility Project in Wilmington, Del.
The projects, some of which are already under construction and will continue through the fall, will ensure Metra customers continue to enjoy safe and reliable service.
Contractors utilized the latest TBM technology to excavate approximately 40 to 60 feet per day to help complete tunneling for the project during the past five years.

The 2024 Rail Transit Seminar is devoted to examining and helping attendees understand the complex interaction at the wheel/rail, vehicle/track interface on light rail & metro systems. A final contract is expected to be awarded in May 2024 with construction of the 2.8-mile extension is scheduled to begin later this year.
