The funding for FY23 and FY24 builds on the more than $1.4 billion in CRISI grant selections announced in 2023.
The new passenger rail facility will help bring modern trains and improved intercity passenger rail service to Uptown Charlotte and support service throughout the state.
The gallery cars that were shipped off were not in service and their retirement will not affect Caltrain service.

Regular passenger service on the rail line resumed March 25 following a near two-month suspension of passenger rail traffic due to soil and debris sliding into the rail right of way.
Crews were able to complete the work due to unencumbered access to track areas while Orange Line service was suspended between Jackson Square and North Station for four days from March 18 to March 21.
This partnership will expand Siemens service contract with Metrolinx and increase system availability and reliability in Toronto’s passenger railway system.

The hydrogen powered train was able to travel 1,741.7 miles on one tank in 46 hours.
The agreement tasks CadRI with the maintenance, repair and overhaul of the rail fleet as part of Metrolinx's GO Expansion - OnCorr project.
