The pilot period is expected to last between 12 and 18 months and will allow the RTA of Southeast Michigan to initiate service, monitor progress, assess ridership demands and understand long-term service needs for the DAX service.
The TTC’s campaign comes as a new internal audit report shows fare evasion on the TTC is at an all-time high with the agency losing approximately C$124 million in 2023.
Broken Arrow Transit is a six-month pilot program that will be operated by MetroLink Tulsa and offer on-demand services to a 20-square-mile area.
The $63 million project introduces expanded vehicle charging capabilities, improved maintenance and vehicle testing facilities, a new technologically advanced command center for COTA’s radio operations team, as well as an official headquarters for COTA’s strategic response specialists.
The report notes that exploring alternative transit solutions is critical in Canada due to the country’s unique transportation challenges.
Darcy Buryniuk has been appointed chief program management officer, Ilyssa DeCasperis has been appointed chief people officer and Ray Sosa has been promoted to chief planning officer.
The appointment follows the city council approval of the recommendation that transit and parking services move from a division of public works to a separate department.
The buses will be delivered in 2025 and support the city's planned transition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent by 2050.
