Service was suspended from Dec. 8 to Dec. 23 to facilitate emergency inspection of the entire light-rail vehicle fleet.
The project aims to reequip the fleet with a vehicle that meets current and future market expectations, improves customer experience, reimagines onboard accessibility and mobility and works to improve transportation efficiencies.
In September, the dismantled older model railcars were stripped of hazardous materials and contaminants and inspected and approved by the U.S. Coast Guard for deployment as artificial reef material for marine wildlife.

New areas of northwest Phoenix will be connected via the 1.6-mile extension to Mesa, Tempe and downtown Phoenix.
Riders will now experience fewer unplanned service disruptions related to older tracks, older infrastructure, signal issues or power problems on the Green Line D Branch.
This design grant will bring major renovations to the Northeast Corridor train station.
The Flatiron/Herzog Joint Venture was selected as the project's Construction Manager at Risk, while an AECOM-led team will support the final design and construction management for the bridge construction phase and Fay Construction will demolish the exiting bridge piers.
