The new, nearly 10-mile automated rail line will connect passengers from Gare Centrale to Brossard.
The approval letter revised the maximum grant the project can secure through the CIG program to $6.88 billion, which is down slightly from the requested federal share of $7.41 billion.
SEPTA has held the Trolley Tunnel Blitz every summer for 11 years when ridership is traditionally lower to impact the fewest number of regular customers.
The solicitation is the first contract for the second phase of the project and will include utility relocation and building remediation.
Péloquin, who began his new role at VIA Rail Canada June 27, brings over three decades of experience in the rail industry.
The 11-mile first phase of the project will connect riders between Kualakaʻi (East Kapolei) Station and Hālawa (Aloha Stadium) Station with two additional phases planned to extend the rail line.
The recommendations by the University of Minnesota note the focus of the line’s development should be on the benefits it brings to the people currently living and working along the proposed route.
The new facility allows VRE to perform expanded maintenance on its railcars and locomotives onsite in Spotsylvania County, Va.
