The 127-year-old bridge is beyond its useful life and a critical link between the Metro-North New Haven Line and the Northeast Corridor.
With the arrival of Train 2, the vehicle portion of HART’s rail system is nearly complete, with the final train expected to arrive within the next year.
From January 2021 until May 2023, buses replaced the 504 King between Dundas West Station and Dufferin Street to accommodate major city works on water mains and sewers in the area.
The 3.2-mile project will connect downtown Omaha to the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
The first-time grants were awarded through FTA’s Rail Vehicle Replacement Program, which targets replacement of aging rail cars responsible for service delays and increased maintenance costs.
Yellow Line trains will have a 60 percent increase in train service than before the closure in fall 2022.
Stacy & Witbeck and Myers & Sons Construction, a joint venture headquartered in Alameda, Calif., were awarded the project, which will improve safety and multimodal access to the transit center and Downtown Mountain View.
The new facility will be nearly 92,000 square feet and include a corporate office and facility with rail access.
