Ask and Muvoni, its South Africa partner, announced they have renewed their contract with the Bombela Operating Co. for the next three years.
Ask provided the contactless Golden card since 2010 FIFA World Cup, date of the launching of the Gautrain project. Based on NXP Mifare Classic chips, the Gautrain Gold Card enables the holder to load a variety of different journey products, ranging from single pay-as-you-go trips, seven day passes and to 35-day passes, onto the same card and to reload the card.
“This new contract strengthens our presence in Africa with South African largest city and it rewards Ask global customer performance”, says Hamdi Chaouch, EMEA sales manager at Ask.
As interoperability’s needs grow throughout all cities worldwide, Johannesburg took this requirement into account in its ticketing system implementation. “Ask and Muvoni partnership is a fruitful and long term relationship, we are happy to be involved in contactless technology spreading on the territory, says Stan Khan, from Muvoni.”
Gautrain's train, bus and parking services are all fully integrated and may be used separately or jointly by transferring from one to another with the Gautrain Gold Card. Travelers can circulate between Johannesburg, Tshwane and OR Tambo International Airport, with various stops along each route.
