New York MTA Transit Transit News - December 2014

The 20th anniversary of the program is also the last. The episode includes a 20-year look at the volunteers and interns that contributed.

The December 2014 episode is the 20th anniversary of the Transit Transit News Magazine program, and it will also be its final show. This episode features:

  • A stage door tour of Radio City Music Hall
  • The annual employee sing-a-long
  • A visit to Comic Con and Discovery Times Square
  • the annual Department of Buses sing-a-long
  • A 20-year look at the more than 300 intern reporters for Transit Transit News Magazine
  • A look at the more than 60 volunteers for Transit Transit News Magazine

Some highlights and facts about the Transit Transit News Magazine program over the last 20 years:

  • The Video Department produced all productions in-house
  • 22 million homes were reqched on 30 cable televsion companies in the New York tri-state area per week
  • More than 300 interns train in corporate communications and broadcast television. More than 100 have gone on to work in television and the media industry
  • More than 30 national awards were received, including 1 Emmy, 2 Emmy nominations, 11 Tellys and several NATOA government programming awards
  • More than 50 volunteers (everyone who worked on the show as a reporter was an MTA employee)
  • No cost for broadcasting -- the show sponsors have paid for the air time on WNYE-TV
  • 9/11 videos and documentaries -- "Above & Below" and "Dust to Steel" -- where sent out to 100 local and national libraries. The two programs are in teh collections of the 9/11 Museum, Museum of the City of NY, Paley Center for TV & Radio and NY Historical Society, just to name a few
