ETA Transit Systems implements GPS  at UHD

Sept. 2, 2015

ETA Transit Systems (ETA) has been completed installation of a new GPS Shuttle Tracker system for the University of Houston–Downtown (UHD) in Houston, Texas. The university approved the GPS solution to track its shuttles on the Bayou Express and Gator lines.

UHD students will now receive real-time estimated times of arrival via public and mobile websites, as well as ETA’s newly released app for Android-powered mobile devices.

Manager of UHD Parking and Transportation Vanessa Turner described the benefits of the system, which went into operation in January 2015. “This new system represents an exciting upgrade in our transportation services,” she states. “Not only will this new technology enhance our students’ daily transit routines, but it also provides the university with real-time passenger counting capabilities; a benefit that will pave the way for future analysis and improvement of our transportation capabilities.

ETA Transit Systems is an ITS solutions firm specializing in CAD/AVL, Passenger Information and Communications Systems throughout North America.

ETA CEO Nicole Castonguay says this contract, “helps solidify the idea that advanced technology is not just for large transit agencies, but can be deployed at small and medium sized agencies and provide just as much value.”
