ETA Transit’s SPOT™ intelligent transit system (ITS) has moved into revenue service on the Clarksville Transit System (CTS) in Clarksville, Tenn.

The SPOT ITS provides the CTS fleet with a suite of real-time transit management capabilities, including the ability to configure routes, head sign codes, onboard announcements, blocks and interlines and more through a web browser.

SPOT also provides reporting both in real time and historical formats. These capabilities translate into the critical information that will drive improvements to Clarksville’s operations. Riders will benefit from arrival predictions and bus location via SPOT’s public-facing tracking websites and mobile applications that take the uncertainty out of travel and provide improved trip planning and passenger feedback capabilities.

“The SPOT deployment at Clarksville is a textbook example of how versatile our ITS is,” said ETA Transit CEO Nicole Castonguay. “By working shoulder-to-shoulder with the Clarksville Transit Team and being able to configure the system in a way that directly improves those areas they sought to address. They have been a tremendous partner in this effort, and we look forward to many years of successful collaboration.”

Long term, Clarksville Transit System will have flexibility from the SPOT system and will benefits from data collection, ease of upgrade and expansion and passenger engagement features. It’s the flexibility of the SPOT platform that gives CTS a right-sized ITS solution that will grow and adapt to match Clarksville’s changing transit landscape.
