ETA Transit Systems of Boca Raton, FL, announced that it has completed its implementation of an Intelligent Transit System (ITS) at San Diego International Airport in time for the January 20 opening of a new consolidated rental car center. The project-conducted in partnership with REI of Omaha, NE-boasts new systems that incorporate several impressive technologies, including: real-time GPS tracking, automatic on-board announcements, mobile video surveillance, automatic passenger counting, multi-media "infotainment displays," and a variety of real-time passenger information display systems installed throughout the terminals.

"This new ITS directly supports our vision for San Diego International Airport's new Rental Car Center," said David Boenitz, director of ground transportation. "The SPOT system enhances the shuttle experience for passengers, providing information, safety, and even entertainment between the facility and the terminals."

Adds Boenitz, "At a glance, passengers need to know how long they will wait for a shuttle. With SPOT, they're getting the relevant information they need quickly."

Nicole Castonguay, CEO at ETA Transit says, "The San Diego International Airport project proves that our SPOT ITS has the flexibility and scalability to work in multiple settings, and delivers critical information to any destination, be it a bus, train, station, or airport. Transit agencies of any size or situation should be excited at the opportunities this affords them."
