Marcia Hale, president of Building America’s Future, issued the following statement in response to Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

“The trail of devastation felt across Texas and Florida in recent weeks is unprecedented. From catastrophic flooding to life-threatening winds, Hurricanes Harvey and Irma now rank as two of the most damaging in U.S. history, destabilizing virtually every basic service in these states. Unfortunately, the disasters have once again put America’s crumbling infrastructure on display.

“It is imperative that Congress and the Administration work together to produce a long-term and robustly funded plan to revitalize current infrastructure and build the resilient infrastructure that meets the demands of current and future generations. We simply cannot let the momentum for such a plan stall. I urge President Trump and Congress to prioritize this important legislation and approve a long-term infrastructure package in the coming days and weeks. Our country cannot afford any more temporary fixes.”
