May is designated as Older Americans Month and is a time to celebrate older Americans, their stories, and their contributions. Led by the Administration for Community Living (ACL), the annual observance offers a special opportunity to learn about, support, and recognize our nation’s older citizens. This year’s theme, Age Out Loud, emphasizes the ways older adults are living their lives with boldness, confidence, and passion while serving as an inspiration to people of all ages.
Each year, rabbittransit provides more than 350,000 rides to older adults throughout Adams, Columbia, Cumberland, Franklin, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, Snyder, Union and York Counties.
This May, rabbittransit will celebrate Older Americans Month by launching a flagship video for its 3P Ride initiative known as: “More people. More places. More possibilities.” The goal of 3P Ride is to demonstrate how inclusive community planning can empower older adults and people with disabilities focusing on expanding transportation options to better connect people to their community.
The “Live Fully. Travel Safely.” video captures older adults mid-action throughout their day as they “live fully” engaging in and recounting their numerous activities. Access to many of these opportunities is made possible because of transportation as older adults “travel safely” through the rabbittransit Shared Ride Paratransit service. The video complements the theme of Older Americans Month as it recognizes and celebrates what getting older looks like today and helps to amplify the voices of older Americans as they age out loud.
