DRPA Hosts Engineer and Contractor Outreach Event

Oct. 15, 2015

On Nov. 12, from 8:30 a.m. to Noon, the Delaware River Port Authority’s (DRPA) Office of Business Development & Equal Opportunity (OBD&EO), in collaboration with the DRPA’s Engineering Department, will host a special outreach event for engineering firms, contractors and companies that provide professional services. The event will provide an opportunity for these firms to learn more about accessing contracting opportunities at the DRPA.

“One of the most important priorities at the Authority is bringing value to the public we serve,” said John T. Hanson DRPA CEO and PATCO President. “This event will enable us to provide interested companies with useful information on how to do business with the DRPA.”

At the special Nov. 12, outreach event, the Authority will provide an overview of the 2016 Capital Budget, including upcoming projects, the bid, Statement of Qualifications and Request for Proposal process, and information on the Authority’s MBE/WBE participation goals and compliance efforts.

“The outreach event on Nov. 12, will be the second event held at the DRPA since the establishment of the Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee of the Labor Committee,” said DRPA Board Chairman Ryan N. Boyer. “This Subcommittee, which was established at my direction, and that of DRPA Board Vice Chairman Jeff Nash,  and with the full support of our Board of Commissioners, oversees and promotes the Authority’s diversity and inclusion policies, initiative and goals.”

DRPA Vice Chairman Jeff Nash added, “We look forward to providing another opportunity for companies in the region to be made aware of our mission to provide equal contracting opportunities. This is just one way in which embracing diversity and inclusion is good for business, both for the Authority and for our potential vendor partners.”

Following the event presentations, there will be an  opportunity for attendees to network with each other and DRPA staff from the Engineering Department, Office of Business Development & Equal Opportunity and Contract Administration in break-out groups.

Six professional engineering firms and two general contractors that currently do business with the DRPA on large capital projects are confirmed to attend. These companies include:

The networking session will enable attendees to meet each other and discuss their respective services and expertise.

DRPA Chief Administrative Officer Toni P. Brown said, “Experienced staff in the Office of Business Development & Equal Opportunity, the Engineering Department and the Contract Administration Department will be available at this special event to meet and greet the attendees and provide answers to any questions the attendees may have about our capital projects and how to do business with our agency.” CAO Brown added, “These outreach events give us an opportunity to showcase our organization and learn more about companies who have an expertise and energy to dedicate to our projects.”

The program will take place at DRPA’s Headquarters.

All interested companies must pre-register for the event by Nov. 4 by completing the event registration form found on the DRPA website. Limited space is available and vendor responses thus far have been extremely positive so the event is expected to reach capacity quickly.  Companies that wish to participate are strongly encouraged to pre-register immediately.
