The Industry Remembers Allen Wright

Allen Wright

1939 ~ 2015

Wright passed away peacefully at home in Stratford surrounded by family on June 12, 2015. He was a well-known and highly respected figure in the mass transit industry for 60 years.

Wright began his career in London, England, with London Transport, where he served his apprenticeship to become a mechanical engineer. After emigrating to Canada in 1963, his career moved forward with the Toronto Transit Commission, Hawker Siddeley, Pullman-Standard (USA), Urban Transportation Development Corp., Nippon Sharyo, TTA Systems (USA), Bombardier, he ran his own Sales and Marketing Services business — the Wright Connection — and for the last two years served as president of Woojin IS (USA) Inc. — a Korean company with an office in Los Angeles.

He was born in Treharris, South Wales, son of the late Thomas and Edith Wright. Beloved husband for 28 years of Sylvia (Titterington). Loving father of Kimberly Gagaropoulos (Tom), Kelly Wright (Trish) and Angela Whitsey (Paul). Grandfather of Julianne Gagaropoulos, Trinity and Killian Wright. Dear brother of Tom Wright (Maureen).

Special thanks go out to the VON nursing staff for their administrations and help throughout this difficult time. The family will be forever grateful for their competency and calming influence. The family will hold a private service followed by a celebration of Allen’s life — date to be announced.
