Operational Consolidation of Sener’s Brazil Division

June 1, 2015

The engineering and technology group Sener has fully integrated Brazilian consultant firm Setepla into its Brazil division, after purchasing outstanding shares to complete a 100 percent holding. Furthermore, all of Setepla’s equipment and facilities have been moved to Sener’s corporate headquarters in São Paulo.

This is an operational consolidation of Sener’s Brazil division, in conjunction with its acquisition of power and process engineering firm Exen – also at 100 percent – which took place two years ago. Setepla specializes in the metro and rail transportation sector.

Sener signed a purchase agreement with Setepla in 2012 that gave it a 48 percent stake in the firm and the option to acquire 100 percent in 2015, an option that has now been taken. Since that agreement was signed it has been able to bid for larger projects in the infrastructures and transport sector and offer technological differentiation in its services, as well as integral engineering in a wide range of markets. The time since the signing has also seen it awarded contracts such as the BRT Metropolitano Perimetral Leste project in São Paulo, the Santa Catarina 862 km rail corridor and São Paulo metro’s Line 2.

Together with its forecasts for growth in Infrastructures and Transport, Sener in Brazil also has expectations in the field of Power and Process, backed by its ample experience in the development of power generation plants, many of them turnkey constructions.
