FWTA Expands Low-Emission Transit Alongside Its Fast-Growing Metropolitan Area

New Flyer of America Inc. has announced that the Fort Worth Transportation Authority has awarded New Flyer with a new contract for up to 46 Xcelsior compressed natural gas (CNG) sixty-foot, heavy-duty transit buses.

New Flyer of America Inc. has announced that the Fort Worth Transportation Authority has awarded New Flyer with a new contract for up to 46 Xcelsior compressed natural gas (CNG) sixty-foot, heavy-duty transit buses.

The contract includes six firm orders with options to purchase an additional 40 compressed natural gas (CNG) sixty-foot, heavy-duty transit buses, which will support Fort Worth’s growing population with efficient, reliable, and affordable transportation. The Dallas/Fort Worth community is among the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the country, and by 2035, Tarrant County is projected to grow by over 50 percent to 2.8 million residents.

The Fort Worth Transportation Authority is a regional transportation authority of the State of Texas, providing public transportation in Tarrant County and the North Central Texas region. It provides more than 10 million passenger trips annually.
