The Greater Dayton RTA has announced Customer & Business Development Chief Brandon Policicchio has been selected as a member of the American Public Transportation Association’s “Leadership APTA” class of 2018.
Leadership APTA is a highly competitive program which selects only 25 people from the industry across the nation to participate each year. The professional development program is designed to foster and support experienced managers and leaders aspiring to hold senior and executive leadership positions in APTA and the public transportation industry.
“This is a very important step for not only my career, but, as an agency, the RTA will greatly benefit from my participation in the program,” Policicchio said. “All the information gathered and my professional growth as a result will be brought back to our agency, leading to the delivery of transit best practices for our deserving customers and community.”
Policicchio was recruited from the Central Ohio Transit Authority in Columbus by the RTA leadership team in 2012 and joined the agency as the Deputy Chief Operations Officer. He held that position until 2016 when he was promoted to his current role. He was named an industry “Top 40 Under 40” by Mass Transit Magazine in 2016.
RTA CEO Mark Donaghy said public transportation customers and coworkers have felt the difference Policicchio has made in Dayton since his arrival.
“His ability to understand the changes our industry is facing with technology and travel patterns as well as mobility management has helped this organization move swiftly to embrace needed change so that we can continue to serve our community in the most effective manner,” Donaghy said.
Policicchio was behind the RTA Connect On Demand service launch this past summer, a first-of-its-kind partnership in Ohio between public transit and rideshare services. Other endeavors he has worked on at the RTA have increased services and improved efficiencies in the agency, providing better service for customers and saving money.
“I am certain he will become a leader in our industry in the not-to-distant future as well as APTA itself,” Donaghy said.
Over the coming year, Policicchio will join his APTA Leadership colleagues from across the nation in skill-building workshops, conferences, executive roundtables and team leadership projects.
