Chevin Fleet Solutions has announced that Consolidated Edison is implementing its FleetWave software to manage a fleet of almost 8,000 commercial and passenger vehicles.

Chevin Fleet Solutions has announced that Consolidated Edison is implementing its FleetWave software to manage a fleet of almost 8,000 commercial and passenger vehicles.

Con Edison serves 3.4 million electric customers throughout a 604-square mile service territory in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and also operates the largest district energy steam in the U.S., providing service to approximately 1,650 customers.

By adopting FleetWave for its utility fleet operations, Con Edison is replacing a dated, complex mainframe-based fleet management system that involved different vehicle management processes and the use of multiple applications.

Ron Katz, senior vice president of North American sales at Chevin explained: “Con Edison wanted to implement a more modern solution that would allow it to leverage a number of advances in technology and best practices in the area of fleet management. The utility desired a new system that would provide greater control and help it streamline labor-intensive data collection processes across its fleet organization.”

The goals outlined for the implementation of FleetWave include improving fleet visibility; tracking vehicle use and availability within a single, integrated management system; as well as accurately capturing and measuring fleet operating costs, vehicle productivity, accidents, warranty and campaign data.

Katz related: “With FleetWave, Con Edison can automatically capture, consolidate and manage a variety of fleet information in one consolidated system, and support its management processes for vehicles; maintenance; parts inventory; fuel usage; telematics; and reporting analytics.

“Our software will enable Con Edison to provide its locations, departmental customers and operations team with real-time information that can be queried and reported on easily and efficiently. Additionally, the company can simplify and standardize its information technology infrastructure, resulting in a tightly integrated software environment to support its diverse business requirements.”
