Edward L. Johnson, chief executive officer, of the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (Lynx) has been named to the board of directors for Lighthouse Central Florida.

Edward L. Johnson, chief executive officer, of the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (Lynx) has been named to the board of directors for Lighthouse Central Florida.

For more than 40 years Lighthouse Central Florida has provided education, independent life skills, and job training and placement to more than 100,000 people with sight impairment and their families.

“Because vision impairment is considered a physical disability, a large portion of the clients we serve, and many of our staff, are considered transportation disadvantaged, so in addition to offering life empowering vision rehabilitation, we also advocate for safe and reliable transportation options that best fit the needs of our stakeholders,” said Lee Nasehi, president and chief executive officer, Lighthouse Central Florida/Lighthouse Works. “Edward’s commitment to improving transit regionally has been clear from day one. His commitment to thinking outside the box and exploring creative solutions to persistent problems makes him a fantastic fit for our board of directors.”

Johnson returned to lead Lynx in May 2016. He previously served on various local boards including the American Red Cross, Metropolitan Orlando Economic Development Commission — Investor Relations Committee, Central Florida Urban League and the Hankins-Johnson Education Foundation.
