DCTA Wins Multiple 2016 Marketing & Transit Industry Awards

The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) was awarded a total of 15 industry and marketing awards this year from international, national and regional competitions

The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) was awarded a total of 15 industry and marketing awards this year from international, national and regional competitions – including top honors from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Dallas and Fort Worth Chapters, Stevie Awards, American Public Transportation Association (APTA), Southwest Transit Association (SWTA), as well as the Marcom and Hermes Creative Awards international programs.

“It’s rewarding to be recognized for all of the hard work DCTA has demonstrated in the marketing and communications realm of the transit industry,” said Nicole Recker, DCTA vice president of marketing and communications. “We are constantly identifying new campaigns and developing passenger-focused programs to position ourselves as an innovator in the transit industry. We will continue to find unique ways to build brand awareness and help increase ridership.”

PRSA Fort Worth Worthy Awards (awarded in November 2016)

Established in 2012 by the Greater Fort Worth Chapter of PRSA, the Worthy Awards showcase exemplary programs and tactics created by public relations professionals in the Greater Fort Worth area.

DCTA received an Award of Achievement for the GORequest campaign.

PRSA Dallas Pegasus Awards (awarded in October 2016)

This annual competition recognizes the most outstanding public relations and strategic communications efforts in the Dallas area and provides a constructive critique by an independent panel of judges for each entry. Members, non-members and students are invited to submit entries.

DCTA received awards for the following campaigns and initiatives:

  • Award of Honor for A-train Fifth Birthday campaign
  • Award of Honor for GORequest campaign            

Marcom Awards (awarded in October 2016)

The Marcom Awards – an international awards competition administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP) – recognizes outstanding creative achievement by marketing and communication professionals.

DCTA received awards for the following campaigns and initiatives:

  • Platinum Award for the Highland Village New Services launch campaign
  • Platinum Award for the GORequest campaign
  • Gold Award for the Brand video development
  • Gold Award for the Corporate Pass sales kit
  • Honorable Mention for the A-train Fifth Birthday campaign
  • Honorable Mention for the Corporate Pass direct mailer 

SWTA Marketing Spotlight Awards (awarded in September 2016)

DCTA competed with transit agencies in eight southwestern states, including Texas, Arizona and Colorado, for the SWTA Marketing Spotlight Awards. The agency received first place for its Hop on Board blog launch.

Mass Transit Top 40 Under 40 Awards (awarded in September 2016)

Each year, Mass Transit magazine recognizes individuals for their contributions and have shown a capacity for innovation, demonstrated leadership and a commitment to making an impact in transit. Criteria for selection include such things as job commitment, industry involvement and contribution, achievement in his or her position and innovation in his or her field.

Nicole Recker, DCTA vice president of marketing and communications, was recognized this year as one of Mass Transit’s Top 40 Under 40 honorees.

Hermes Creative Awards (awarded in May 2016)

The Hermes Creative Awards – an international awards competition administered and judged by the AMCP – recognizes outstanding work in the industry while promoting the philanthropic nature of marketing and communication professionals.

DCTA received awards for the following campaigns and initiatives:

  • Gold Award for 2015 State Fair of Texas advertising campaign
  • Gold Award for the Hop on Board blog launch campaign
  • Gold Award for PRWeek coverage for Valentine’s Day campaign

Stevie Awards – American Business Awards (awarded in May 2016)

The Stevie Awards are the world's premier business awards. They were created in 2002 to honor and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and working professionals worldwide. The American Business Awards – one of the Stevie Award programs – are the premier business awards program in the U.S.A. open to all organizations operating in the U.S.A., and feature a wide variety of categories to recognize achievement in every facet of the workplace.

DCTA received a Bronze Award for the Hop on Board blog launch campaign.
