TransIT Partners with FCPL for the 2016 Wandering Book Campaign

TransIT Services of Frederick County has partnered with Frederick County Public Libraries (FCPL) for the second year to introduce the “Wandering Book” program beginning August 22nd.

TransIT Services of Frederick County has partnered with Frederick County Public Libraries (FCPL) for the second year to introduce the “Wandering Book” program beginning August 22nd. The  program is a development of the Maryland Humanities Council’s One Maryland One Book program which encourages all Maryland residents to read the same book and bring together diverse people in communities across the state through the shared experience of reading the same book.

The 2016 selection, All American Boys is by Jason Reynolds and Brendan the Coretta Scott King Author Honor, the Walter Dean Myers Award for Outstanding Children’s Literature and is a Junior Library Guild Selection.As summarized on the book jacket, it is about two American boys – “one black and one white” – who “risk everything to change the world” and ”face the unspeakable truth that racism and prejudice didn’t die after the civil rights movement.” The timely novel is a winner of

Books will be distributed throughout various TransIT Connector routes with posted clues on TransIT’s and FCPL’s Facebook pages. Each book includes an insert explaining the program and encourages passengers to take the book, read it and pass it to a friend, neighbor or fellow bus rider to do the same. Clues and books will be distributed beginning Monday, August 22nd.
