PTSI Transportation Welcomes Patty Chemka as Senior Advisor – Public Transportation

PTSI Transportation has officially welcomed Patricia Chemka Speranza, more commonly known to the public transportation industry as Patty Chemka, to its team of associates.

PTSI Transportation has officially welcomed Patricia Chemka Speranza, more commonly known to the public transportation industry as Patty Chemka, to its team of associates.

Chemka served as Deputy Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Public Works and Transportation from 2010 until her recent retirement, and has held numerous transportation planning positions with the County before that. With over thirty years in the industry, Patty has demonstrated a knowledge of both transportation and planning, presiding over all transportation planning activities for the county. She has in her jurisdiction dealt with bus service, a major airport, highways, and one of the largest commuter railroads in the nation, as well as the implementation and coordination of multi-modal services and integrated fare regimes..

She was responsible for the first competitive procurement of bus service in Westchester, and after award, was responsible for the successful administration of the operating contract with the winning carrier. She has developed, defended, and administered operating and capital budgets, bonding legislation, federal and state grants, and has served as liaison to county transportation and airport boards, as well as to regional and metropolitan planning agencies and efforts.

Chemka is expected to play a major role in developing and implementing numerous projects related to local, regional and intercity passenger transportation, for both public and private carriers and agencies. She will work with PTSI's public transportation team in serving existing clients and in generating new value-added projects and products. Among these will be application of PTSI's Route Learning System to bus services, and improving customer service to both the institutional as well as the ultimate customers (passengers) of PTSI clients.

A graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo, she lives in Westchester County, New York,  with her husband, and is active in community affairs in her long-time home town overlooking the Hudson River.
