Cheshire and Thorpe Park-area residents, as well as those wanting to access the museums along the Fort Valley Rd. corridor on weekends will have a new option beginning August 6 when the Northern Arizona Intergovernmental Public Transportation Authority's Mountain Line launches weekend service on Route 5.
Route 5 begins at the Downtown Connection Center on Phoenix Ave. and heads to the Cheshire neighborhood, serving Flagstaff City Hall, the Adult Center, Clark Homes, Flagstaff Medical Center, and Fort Valley Rd. in between. The new weekend service will run from 7:32 a.m. – 7:46 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. An additional Route 5 change will have the Supplemental Bus (runs on weekdays during the school year) departing Stop 19 (FALA) at 3:20 p.m. instead of 3:25 p.m.
Effective August 6, Mountain Line is also launching the new FLGRide app, available on iOs and Android platforms. FLGRide will replace the existing TransLoc real time arrival app and will be exclusive to Mountain Line. Riders can download the free app to track buses in real time and see when buses will arrive at particular stops.
“The addition of Route 5 weekend service means that Mountain Line offers service seven days a week on all routes, which is great news for those who live along Route 5 and want to access our wonderful museums,” said NAIPTA CEO & General Manager Jeff Meilbeck. “Our surveys show that many of our riders are accessing information via mobile phones, and the launch of our new FLGRide app is the start of a new era of mobile technology for NAIPTA.”
