Moovel North America Hires Automotive Technology Innovator as Chief Product Officer

Moovel North America has hired Matt Jones as chief product officer, based in the company’s Portland office.

Moovel North America has hired Matt Jones as chief product officer, based in the company’s Portland office. In this new role, Jones will be responsible for orchestrating the vision and roadmap for Moovel’s portfolio of urban mobility products, including moovel transit, RideTap and future innovations aimed at reinventing the current disconnected state of transportation into one seamless mobility ecosystem.

Jones comes to Moovel with more than 15 years of software innovation and leadership expertise, previously serving as the director of future technology at Jaguar Land Rover where he was responsible for defining and leading the pre-development of the future infotainment, electronic and software systems. Leading large teams of software engineers and product professionals across a global operation, Jones oversaw the prototyping and production of both in-dash and mobile app solutions for vehicle routing, information and entertainment systems.

Jones was named "Automotive Influencer of the Year" in 2015 by TU-Automotive Detroit. He was also the driving force behind the creation of the 85,000-square-foot/100+ engineer Jaguar Land Rover facilities in Portland, Oregon, that including the start-up focused JLR Tech Incubator.

Jones also served as board director at Linux Foundation and president of the GENIVI Alliance; where he lead and promoted open source development platforms, including successful developer outreach campaigns, to enable the deployment of future connected platforms. This included leading the strategic scope growth of GENIVI into connected transportation and huge growth in the active use of the GENIVI Development Platform.

Prior to joining Jaguar Land Rover, Jones worked briefly in the telecommunications and aerospace industries after obtaining his masters degree in electronics and electrical engineering (specializing in embedded software) from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
