Sener Consortium is Awarded the HS2 Engineering Delivery Partner Contract in the UK

High Speed Two (HS2) Limited, the governmental company responsible for developing and promoting the UK's new high speed rail network, has awarded the joint venture formed by CH2M, Atkins and engineering and technology group Sener the Engineering Delivery

High Speed Two (HS2) Limited, the governmental company responsible for developing and promoting the UK's new high speed rail network, has awarded the joint venture formed by CH2M, Atkins and engineering and technology group Sener the Engineering Delivery Partner (EDP) for High Speed 2, Phase 1, contract.

Sener will work together with CH2M and Atkins for the oncoming 10 years to provide qualified engineering and construction management support to HS2 in the development of the high speed line that will cover 230 km between London and Birmingham. The contract comprises supporting preparation for the procurement of the main civil contracts and subsequent work packages, including stations and rail systems; managing support of the design stage and constructions stages of the works; providing project engineering and construction management; and providing technical assurance of design.

Following award of the contract, Sener Railways Manager, Jesús Planchuelo, expressed, “this is definitely one of the most relevant rail projects worldwide and Sener is very proud to be part of it, partnering with CH2M and Atkins”. And he added, “Sener is also delighted to make its long track record of technological projects and international experience available to provide efficient and sustainable solutions in the achievement of transportation needs for the 21st century in the UK”.

Infrastructures and Transport is one of the main fields of activity for Sener, including a large experience in all ranges of engineering services and for all different phases of a project. In High Speed Rail sector in particular, Sener is involved in key projects around the world, such as the Californian High Speed Rail network, the International High Speed Rail connection between Spain and France (Figueras-Perpignan), most of the HSR Lines developed in Spain during the last 20 years, the Portuguese HSR network and the rail hubs to future HSR nodes of Wrocław, Poznań and Łódź in Poland.
