The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT), in cooperation with the Richmond Regional Transportation Planning Organization (RRTPO), wishes to hear from residents on alternatives to meet transit needs and opportunities throughout the region, including expanding and enhancing public transit services. This outreach is part of the Greater RVA Transit Vision Plan, established to identify key issues and challenges facing the long range vision for public transportation in the region. This Vision Plan will illustrate public transportation contributions toward the vitality of the region’s economy, particularly connecting people to jobs, and revitalizing neighborhoods.

Progress toward implementation of the GRTC Pulse Bus Rapid Transit system, and transit planning by GRTC and individual jurisdictions has created region-wide transit enthusiasm and raised questions about what is next in the long-term vision for high-quality transit in the greater Richmond area. Enthusiasm for additional connections and expansions has been expressed at the community level, and it is essential to identify how these future transit initiatives fit within local and regional plans.

A series of three upcoming public meetings has been scheduled to gather this valuable feedback and insight. The meetings will offer citizens an opportunity to learn details of the project, identify opportunities and options for future regional transit services, have discussions with the project team, and provide feedback. The public is invited to attend any of these public meetings:

  • North Park Library: Wednesday, March 9, 6:00pm-8:00pm 8505 Franconia Road Richmond, VA 23227
  • Ramsey United Methodist Church: Thursday, March 10, 6:00pm-8:00pm 5900 Hull Street Road Richmond, VA 23224
  • DMV West Broad: Monday, March 14, 6:00pm-8:00pm, 2300 W. Broad Street Richmond, VA 23220

Public meeting locations are accessible to persons with disabilities. DRPT strives to provide reasonable accommodations and services for persons who require assistance to participate. For special assistance, citizens should call the Title VI Compliance Officer, 804-786-4440 or TDD 711 at least 72 hours in advance of each meeting.
