Smart Card Alliance Expands Payments Summit

Dec. 21, 2015

The newly co-located Smart Card Alliance Payments Summit and the ICMA Card Manufacturing and Personalization Expo will hit Orlando, Florida next spring as a significantly expanded conference covering EMV chip migration, mobile wallets, NFC, contactless, open transit payment systems, FinTech, card manufacturing and personalization technologies and processes.

For the first time, the Smart Card Alliance and the International Card Manufacturing Association (ICMA) are co-locating events from April 4 to 7, at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort in Orlando, giving attendees a broader perspective from the core manufacturing and personalization of a card to the rapid evolution in secure payments.

“New technologies are reinventing the payments space. This year’s 9th annual Payments Summit has expanded to keep up with the rapidly growing and changing industry, and will look at the latest trends and topics across three dynamic and converging markets — EMV chip payments, mobile payments, and transportation payments,” said Randy Vanderhoof, executive director of the Smart Card Alliance.

Registration for this event includes access to all sessions, the combined exhibition hall and networking events for the Payments Summit and the ICMA EXPO. Members may register through either the Smart Card Alliance or the ICMA to receive member discounts and other benefits. Early registration discounts are available through Jan. 22.

“Co-locating these events goes a long way towards building relationships across our memberships,” said ICMA Executive Director Jeffrey Barnhart. “ICMA EXPO attendees will have a new opportunity to connect and collaborate with participants across the full spectrum of cards and payments.”

The events will include a joint exhibit hall and opening general session, as well as separate educational tracks on topics including:

  • Payments Solutions. Innovative payments solutions are giving consumers more payment choices, from secure EMV contact and contactless chip payments to new mobile wallets. Attendees will learn how to seize the opportunity to create a more secure, convenient and faster payments world with EMV, mobile and other innovative payments solutions.
  • Transit Payments. Transit agencies big and small are using mobile technology and payments innovation to make mass transit and parking a lot more efficient and convenient. Attendees will discover how payments and transit converge to create a more seamless travel experience for all.
  • FinTech. Attendees will learn how financial technology — also known as FinTech — is reinventing financial services as we know it and creating new opportunities for startups and established industry leaders alike.
  • Card manufacturing and personalization. Topics covered will include industry trends, technology advances, growth opportunities and how to improve manufacturing and personalization and performance.
