The Miami-Dade Art Express, a pilot bus route established by Miami-Dade Transit in collaboration with the Cities of Miami and Miami Beach, makes its debut on Dec. 1.
The goal of the Miami-Dade Art Express pilot route is to help alleviate traffic congestion during one of the busiest weeks in Miami-Dade County.
The Miami-Dade Art Express will provide commuters and Art Basel goers a convenient, easy alternative to driving a car, especially during a time when the Venetian Causeway is temporarily closed due to construction.
This complimentary express bus service will travel along the Julia Tuttle Causeway and will provide service from Dec. 1-6, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., with service approximately every 20 minutes.
The Miami-Dade Art Express bus stops will be located at:
- Miami Beach Convention Center- 17 St. and Convention Center Dr.
- Design District - NE 1st Ave. and 38 St.
- Wynwood - NW 2nd Ave. and 29 St.
- Midtown - NE 29 St. and 1st Ave.
Free Wi-Fi on buses, and free mobile device charging stations at bus stops within the City of Miami, will allow passengers to stay connected while enjoying the events. The 40-foot buses are also equipped with bicycle racks and are specifically branded for this route.
In addition, between Dec. 1 and Dec. 6, Miami-Dade Transit will extend its Metrorail and Metromover service to 1 a.m. to accommodate the large crowds attending the series of events during Art Basel week.
These efforts are just one example of the many ways in which MDT is trying to help ease traffic flow while creating awareness of the benefits of using transit services.
