The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) launched NextBus alongside the Route Optimization Initiative (ROI) in December 2014.
This real-time passenger information system is a time-saving initiative that gives customers the estimated arrival time of the bus at their stop. Buses are equipped with GPS devices that enable tracking via a satellite which in turns provides up to the minute bus location and arrival time information. NextBus makes trip planning easy and it is complimentary. Customers are able to manage their schedules, reduce wait times at bus stops and ultimately improve their quality of life.
