Metro Honored by Texas Comptroller

Sept. 22, 2015

The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (Metro) has been awarded the Platinum Leadership Circle award by the Texas Comptroller for the second year in a row.  The award recognizes public entities across Texas for financial transparency.

The Platinum designation is the highest honor granted by the Comptroller's office. Metro scored a 21 out of 23 possible points.  The agency was graded on criteria including annual budget, check register, financial transparency webpage and budgets for the three most recent fiscal years.

"Metro is honored to be recognized again for its efforts providing the public easy access to financial information, including budget and spending," said Metro Chairman Gilbert Garcia.  "The agency is committed to being open and accountable to the people of the Houston region."

The State Comptroller first raised Metro's award level from Gold to Platinum in 2014.  This is the sixth consecutive year Metro has received high honors.  Only one other Texas transit agency, Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA), received the Platinum rating for FY2015.
