SouthWest Transit’s Prime Service Expands

Sept. 14, 2015

SouthWest Transit announced the successful local service, SW Prime, is now traveling within Eden Prairie, Chaska, Chanhassen, and Carver Fleet Farm and Downtown Carver. In addition, Saturday hours have now been added.

The Prime is a modern day demand response/dial-a-ride service in which you may request a ride through our website, phone app, or over the phone. Simply indicate the location from which you want to be picked up and where you want to go within the 3 cities plus Carver locations and a ride will take you there.

“The Prime has just really taken off,” said SouthWest CEO Len Simich, “We knew introducing the service to all three cities, plus additional Carver locations, and allowing the smaller vehicles to travel within our service areas would be of great use to our riders.”

The Prime is operating Monday – Friday 6:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., and on Saturdays 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Cost is $3 per ride, $2 for children between 6 and 12 (accompanied by a paying adult), and transfers to and from the SouthWest Express buses is $1. Children under 5 ride free with a paying adult.

Ride requests can be made through

  • Website: SWPrime.org
  • SW Transit Phone App, which is found within SWTransit’s existing schedule app
  • Calling 952-SW-PRIME.

Ride requests can be made up to 48 hours in advance, otherwise “on-demand” rides can be requested at any time.
