DCTA Receives 2015 Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle Platinum Award

Sept. 2, 2015

The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) has received a Platinum Award for the Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle designation for financial transparency. The Leadership Circle awards program recognizes local governments across Texas that are striving to meet a high standard for financial transparency by opening their books to the public, providing clear and consistent pictures of spending, and sharing information in a user-friendly format that helps taxpayers understand how their dollars are spent.

In 2015, the Texas Comptroller enhanced the Leadership Circle program by spotlighting entities that meet an even higher standard of financial transparency by adding the Platinum Award level. The Platinum designation is the highest attainable level and spotlights entities that go above and beyond providing financial transparency in local government.

“We are proud to be recognized by the Texas Comptroller for the hard work DCTA has done to provide transparency to our community, passengers, stakeholders and partners,” said Anna Mosqueda, DCTA chief financial officer. “Receiving the Platinum Award displays our continuing commitment to providing transparency on all DCTA fiscal matters.”

From 2012 – 2014, DCTA earned Silver Award recognition, the second highest level attainable during that time period. This year, DCTA earned the new Platinum Award status by meeting the additional criteria requirements and achieving 22 out of 23 points on the rating criteria.

Leadership Circle designees are awarded with a certificate reflecting their Circle Award level and featured on the Texas Transparency website.
