STM Commissions New Bus/Taxi Lane

The Montreal Transit Corp. (STM) has announced the commissioning of a new lane on the Boulevard Des Sources touching the Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough and the towns of Dollard-des-Ormeaux Pointe-Claire, and that, as of Aug. 3, 2015.

With a total length of 8.6 km return , the reserved lane will be in operation on weekdays.Southbound will be based from 6 a.m. to 9: 30 p.m., between Gouin boulevards and De Salaberry and between Hymus Boulevard and Avenue St. Louis. North, it will be based on 15 h 30 h 30 to 18, between Avenue Reverchon and Hymus Boulevard and between Salaberry and Pierrefonds boulevards. This new bus lane will benefit nearly 5,000 daily trips made ​​on lines 208 - Brunswick 209 - Des Sources, 409 - Des Sources and Express 475 - Express Dollard-des-Ormeaux 

"The project is part of the desire to improve the public transport service in the West Island and to develop a network of preferential measures for buses. A first lane reserved for buses, taxis and carpooling has been successfully implemented in 2012 on the boulevard Saint-Jean. The STM wishes to repeat the experience on the Sources Boulevard. Like the reserved lane on St. John, the reserved lane on Des Sources will be accessible to automobiles traveling with 2 or more passengers, "said Philippe Schnobb, chairman of the board of the STM.
