Metro Transit Police on June 11 arrested William Nelson, 52, of Morningside, MD, on a primary charge of felony assault following an incident aboard a Green Line train on June 7.
Nelson is the person police allege is seen on cell phone video assaulting another passenger aboard a southbound Green Line train at around 1 a.m. Sunday as the train passed through Anacostia and Congress Heights stations.
Metro Transit Police were notified, responded and successfully intercepted the train at Southern Avenue Station. Both subjects seen in the video were stopped and identified; however, neither wanted to pursue charges at the time.
The warrant for Nelson's arrest was obtained June 11 in the District of Columbia.
