Voith Turbo Celebrates 40 Years in U.S.

June 1, 2015

On May 29, Voith Turbo marked 40 years in the United States with a celebration for employees, their families, customers, and local elected officials. Voith Turbo is a specialist for intelligent drive solutions and systems in the energy, mining and mechanical engineering, ship technology, rail, and commercial vehicles sectors. Voith Turbo has made its home in York, Pennsylvania, since 1987, and has been in its current location on Winship Rd. since 1989. In 1975, Voith Turbo opened its first U.S. office in Appleton, Wisconsin, which is also home to a separate Voith division – Voith Paper. York is also the headquarters for Voith Hydro’s U.S. division.

“Voith Turbo has a long and proud history in the United States, and it was great to celebrate our accomplishments with friends, co-workers and their families, customers, and elected officials,” said Norm Boisvert, regional director Americas/CAO for Voith Turbo Inc. “Though Voith Turbo is a leader in industries subject to constant change, the dedication and professionalism of our employees across the U.S. has remained steady. We look forward to many more milestones and growth here in the U.S.”

In addition to York, Voith Turbo has facilities in Houston and Sacramento. It also has facilities in both Canada and Mexico, in addition to a global presence. The York facility has undergone significant expansion and upgrades over the last several years to accommodate for growth. This year, the Houston facility will expand and become the headquarters for the Power, Oil, and Gas Group in the Americas.

Last year Voith Turbo hit another significant milestone when it reached 1,000 days without a lost time accident – a streak that has since reached 1,337 days. A commitment to workplace safety is important to Voith Turbo, further evidenced by winning the Pennsylvania Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence in 2013.
