Feb. 11, 2015

Siemens Process Industries and Drives attended its largest and most important trade show, DistribuTECH in San Diego, California, and in addition to bringing experts that discussed premium products and solutions, they held a launch for the Ruggedcom RX1400 – a new rugged cellular router for harsh environments.

Siemens Ruggedcom RX1400 is a multiprotocol intelligent node which combines Ethernet switching, routing, VPN, and firewall functionality with various WAN connectivity options.  The device operates within a -40° C to +85° C temperature range using a fanless design and is equipped with a metal housing that supports DIN rail, panel, or rack mounting.

The Ruggedcom RX1400 offers a solution for any scale of implementation. Its form factor allows installation in existing cabinets, while the cyber security and networking functionality make it suited for mission-critical applications.

Siemens had a launch event for its Ruggedcom RX1400 on the USS Midway - the longest-serving aircraft carrier in the 20th century, and a San Diego landmark. 170 utility customers from US, Canada, Japan and other countries came to celebrate the launch of this new, highly anticipated Siemens product.
