Paul Grether Promoted to Director of Rail Services

Paul Grether has been promoted to director of rail services at Cincinnati Metro. In this role, he will continue to manage Metro’s involvement in the Cincinnati Streetcar project and oversee Metro’s railroad real estate holdings.

Grether began his career with Metro in 2012 as Rail Services Manager and is responsible for overseeing the adoption and implementation of the Cincinnati Streetcar Operating Agreement between Metro and the city of Cincinnati.

Previously, Grether worked for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), where he served as manager of streetcar development and was involved in stakeholder coordination between the city of Atlanta and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District. He has experience working with Federal Transit Administration grant programs and regulations, rail transit operations and program project management.

Grether serves as the Chair of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Streetcar Subcommittee. He is also a graduate of the Leadership APTA class of 2011, a development program for leaders in the transit industry, and was selected as a “Top 40 Under 40” by Mass Transit Magazine in 2013.

Grether received his bachelor’s degree in Management and Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning (Transportation Specialization with heavy emphasis on civil engineering) from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

He currently resides in Over-the-Rhine near the streetcar line, which is currently under construction and due to open in 2016.
