Safe Fleet Announces New Seon President

Dec. 22, 2014
Safe Fleet announced that its subsidiary Seon will promote its curret COO, Tom Gill, to president.

Safe Fleet announced that its subsidiary Seon will promote its current chief operating officer, Tom Gill, to the role of president effective December 31, replacing current Seon President and Co-founder Terry Akiyama. Akiyama has decided to retire as president but will transition to a new role as chairman to provide continued guidance and leadership.

“We thank Terry for his leadership over the past fifteen years,” said John R. Knox, president and chief executive officer, Safe Fleet. “His entrepreneurship and relationship building skills were instrumental in growing Seon from a small start-up company to the global leader in mobile surveillance for buses.”

Seon joined the Safe Fleet family of brands in September 2014 when it was acquired by Safe Fleet as part of its vision to become the global leader in safety for fleet vehicles.

In 2009, Gill was hired as chief operating officer due to his proven track record in delivering strong operational leadership to dynamic businesses during periods of unprecedented growth. Gill is a veteran in the video surveillance industry serving as COO and CFO of Silent Witness prior to their acquisition by Honeywell in 2003.  He has a reputation for building robust operational infrastructures to support industry-leading growth while maintaining an entrepreneurial culture.

“Tom’s unique combination of financial know-how, operational leadership, and strategic thinking makes him the ideal candidate to lead Seon in its continued growth trajectory”, said Terry Akiyama, outgoing president. “I look forward to working with him to transition responsibilities, as well as partner and customer relationships, over the upcoming months.”
