AVTA Receives Clean Audit Report

The auditing firm reported there were no operational weaknesses detected for the budget year ending June 30, and found that AVTA complied with all federal requirements connected to grant funding.

The Antelope Valley Transit Authority (AVTA) announced it has received a clean financial audit report for the 2014 fiscal year. The accounting firm Windes Inc. recently completed its annual audit of AVTA’s financial statements, including the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards. The auditing firm reported there were no operational weaknesses detected for the budget year ending June 30, and found that AVTA complied with all federal requirements connected to grant funding.

“As a public agency, we have a responsibility to conduct our operations according to the highest standard,” commented Board Chairman Norm Hickling. “The AVTA finance team is to be commended for their excellent financial accounting.”

AVTA has been working since 2012 with Windes, Inc., an accounting firm headquartered in Long Beach, California. This year marks the third year in a row that AVTA has received a clean audit report. The agency also recently received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2013. This certificate of achievement is considered one of the highest forms of recognition for financial accounting.
