Project Read Transports Back in Montreal

Enjoying the season playing Montreal in full swing, the Booksellers Association of Quebec (ALQ) Libraries Montreal and the Société de transport de Montreal (STM) unite again for the second edition of the project Read transports you.

Taking advantage of the season playing Montreal in full swing, the Booksellers Association of Quebec (ALQ) Libraries Montreal and the Société de transport de Montreal (STM) to unite New to the second edition of Project  Read transports you. From October 2014 to March 2015, with many additions and surprises that will be grafted temporarily during the winter season, a free digital library composed of forty Quebec books will be available everywhere in the city: in 65 bus shelters and the Laurier metro on the orange line in the form of a deployment outside of the station.

"Like our vision to transform Montreal into a smart and innovative city, transports you read is a campaign that is at the heart of the priorities of the city of Montreal in promoting both the use of active transportation and accessibility of culture and knowledge. This is a unique opportunity for Montrealers of all ages to discover including digital collections of libraries Montreal, which are taking an important technological shift. We are proud to partner with the STM and the ALQ two partners eager to make culture accessible to all, "said Manon Gauthier, member of the executive committee of the city of Montreal, responsible for culture, heritage and Design, Space for Life and Status of Women.

 "When customers who use our network is observed, quickly realized that reading and public transport often go together. It is then natural for the STM to be part of this cultural movement and encourage our local libraries and bookstores here, "said Philippe Schnobb, president of the board of the STM.

"This partnership helps remind readers that Quebec independent bookstores are present in the digital sphere. It is therefore possible to read digitally while encouraging platforms here and our local bookstore! Booksellers have cards in their game: representing 48 percent of sales in Quebec bookstores, independent bookstores are based on the relationship of trust with their clients to be present online. I congratulate the STM for their commitment to reading, thank Libraries Montreal for their renewed commitment and hope that this creative and innovative project continues to make small, "said Katherine Fafard, executive director of the ALQ.

Through this project, it will be possible to download a smart phone, a tablet or a reading light, through URL, the first chapter of each book available in five categories: history, humor, suspense and travel ideas. The reader will see later, the opportunity to borrow the book in paper or digital format in one of 45 libraries in the city of Montreal or buy, also in paper or digital format. Function will also geotag the library or the nearest bookstore.
